Joseph Campbell’s ‘A Hero with a Thousand Faces’ is an analysis of centuries of human storytelling, based around the anthropological theories of Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung, and this fascinating book provided the blueprint for this new Russian Linesman project – an artistic abstraction of the concept of the Monomyth – a formula we are all familiar with in modern day films and books.

As 2020 draws to a close, we have arrived at the finale of the Russian Linesman’s intriguing, six-part series of EPs exploring the art of storytelling, and it’s been quite a ride! To conclude this latest epic series, the Linesman presents four more inimitable electronic compositions that reference his love of experimenting within the broad creative fields of Techno, House and Electronica.

“This is the end of the road. The adventure comes to a close. Our protagonists have experienced the rise, fall and eventual rebirth of the Hero's Journey. ‘Crossing the Returning Threshold’ back into the ordinary world they are resurrected as the ‘Master of Two Worlds’. Armed with the ‘Elixir’ they now have the ‘Freedom to Live’. The circle is complete and we are resurrected. This is mirrored in the EP artwork, an image of 4 year old me sat at my Bontempi keyboard hammering out my first notes, egoless and free.
